SunGate Primary Care has opened for business in Bluffton.  The new medical practice officially opened on January 7th — providing a new option for family medical care at a convenient, state-of-the-art new medical center complex.

SunGate Primary Care is located at SunGate Medical Center, 10 William Pope Drive in Bluffton.  Appointments are now being taken – to schedule an appointment, call the office at 843-705-1510.

The new medical practice is headed up by Dr. Christopher LeBlanc, a family physician with nearly a decade of experience in family medicine.  In addition to Dr. LeBlanc, the new practice will offer a seasoned medical staff, including Physician Assistant Erica Cooler Roper, an experienced PA who also serves as a PA for Palmetto Eye Specialists.

SunGate Primary Care offers the following services:

  • physicals
  • same day appointments for emergencies
  • basic diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses and medical conditions
  • medical testing of present symptoms
  • collaboration with referral specialists
  • coordination of the care given by varied organizations such as hospitals or rehabilitation clinics
  • long-term management of chronic health conditions
  • special interests include diabetes and hypertension

Dr. LeBlanc has worked at a number of family medicine practices and hospitals, and most recently was a family physician at Bluffton-Okatie Primary Care.  Board-certified in family practice by the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, Dr. LeBlanc has worked extensively in serving the health care needs of both adults and children when it comes to preventive care and medical treatment.   In addition to focusing on overall wellness, Dr. LeBlanc specializes in the management of chronic diseases.

A member of the National Health Service Corps, the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians,  Dr. LeBlanc received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Maine, where he was ranked in the top 20% of his class.  He completed his residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in Allentown, PA, where he served as Chief Resident, Family Practice.

SunGate Primary Care is the fifth medical practice to open at SunGate Medical Center.  The other four practices at the new medical building are Palmetto Eye Specialists, Palmetto Optical Shop, Hughes Dental Group and Drayer Physical Therapy.  Plans are underway to launch additional medical specialties at SunGate early this year, including Island Medical Spa and the Twenty20 Café – a healthy café eatery located right inside the building.

SunGate Medical Center is located at 10 William Pope Drive in Bluffton, in the former Pulte Administration Building for Sun City. William Pope Drive is just off Okatie Center Boulevard S, with easy access from Highway 170 or Route 278. In addition, the building is golf cart-accessible for Sun City residents, adding to the convenience of this new option for state-of-the-art medical care in Bluffton.
